Buying Guide – How to Choose the Best AI Electric Golf Caddy That Follows You
Selecting the right autonomous golf caddy involves balancing technology, durability, and practical features. Use these key factors to narrow down choices and find a model that matches your playing style and budget.
Tracking Technology
Different models use ultrasound, RF, UWB, or vision-based systems for tracking. UWB and vision typically offer higher precision, while RF and ultrasound are proven and cost-effective. Consider your preference for range and accuracy when walking the course.
Prioritize tracking that minimizes lag and drift so the cart stays close without needing constant correction during your round.
Battery Life and Capacity
Look for lithium-ion batteries that support at least 36 holes per charge. Higher capacity models ranging 45 holes provide better coverage for long days or tournaments without requiring mid-day recharging. Fast-charging features add convenience for quick turnarounds.
Choose a battery capacity that matches your typical round duration to avoid interruptions or power anxiety on the course.
Control Methods
Most units offer remote control, app control, and manual push modes. Some include cruise control or recall features for added convenience. Ensure the interface is intuitive and the remote works within a reasonable range for your course layout.
Opt for multiple control options so you can adapt to different course conditions or personal preferences easily during play.
Build Quality and Weight
Frames made from aluminum alloys offer strong support with manageable weight. Lightweight carts are easier to transport but must still support your bag securely. Check weight ratings and anti-tip features to ensure stability on slopes.
Select a model with balanced weight and sturdy construction to ensure safe and reliable movement across varied terrain.
Portability and Storage
Foldable designs are essential for easy trunk transport and home storage. Look for carts that fold in a few steps and fit within your vehicle's dimensions. Quick-release batteries further reduce weight for carrying.
Ensure the folded dimensions fit your storage space and that the cart is simple to collapse after rounds regularly.
Weather Resistance
Golf courses can be wet or rainy. An IPX5 or higher waterproof rating ensures internal electronics survive splashes and dew. This is critical for longevity if you play year-round or in unpredictable weather.
Verify the waterproof rating to protect your investment and ensure reliable operation in wet course conditions.
Warranty and Support
Manufacturer warranties vary from one year to three years. Longer warranties indicate confidence in durability and reduce risk. Also check if technical support is readily available for troubleshooting or parts replacement.
Prioritize models with solid warranties and responsive customer service to minimize downtime if issues arise later.
Accessories and Extras
Many caddies come with cup holders, phone mounts, umbrella stands, and bag straps. These extras save you from buying separately. Assess which accessories are essential for your needs and whether the bundle offers good value.
Choose a package that includes practical add-ons to enhance convenience and streamline your setup before each round.
How to Use and Care for Your AI Electric Golf Caddy That Follows You
Before your first round, fully charge the battery and ensure all components are securely attached. Familiarize yourself with the remote or app controls so you can switch modes smoothly while on the course.
During play, activate auto-follow and allow the system to calibrate. Keep the remote accessible for quick overrides if the cart stops or needs adjustment on steep slopes or crowded areas.
After each round, store the cart in a dry place and wipe off dirt or moisture. Charge the battery fully before next use and inspect wheels and folding mechanisms regularly to maintain smooth operation over time.
